Years ago I remember this very popular brand released a range of tomato scented bath and body products; I love tomatoes, could eat them all day, every day, but I was quite unsure about tomato scented products. I had every reason to be, because when I tried out the body lotion, oh gosh it was as if I had smeared ketchup all over myself. It wasn’t a pleasant experience at all.
So when the lovely Dina from Petunia’s Corner sent me a Tomato Garden scented candle to review, I was very nervous. But with this unique scent blend I had no reason to be.

Mmmm Man Candles!
At this stage, when it comes to candles in our homes, we should be basically charging the candles rent because they now take up whole rooms. It was once just a couple shelves, then it turned into a couple closets pretty soon we’ll be needing candle houses! But luckily the men in our lives have stopped asking “is that more candles?!” and have learned to live with them and our addiction, which sometimes they feed, you know cause we’re so cute and bat our eyelashes at them.
But we still feel the need to convince our men that candles are a necessity in life. I think we hope that maybe they’ll become hooked too and buy MORE CANDLES for us to have enjoy together. 😀
Man candles or “mandles” are the perfect excuse to get them to buy candles or for ya know, spontaneous romantic gifts that we say are for them but are really for us. Tee hee hee.
Here are some of our favourite mandles… Read More
Petunia’s Corner Peppered Poppies Candle Review
To say I adored this candle would be an understatement. The scent brought me so much joy.
I have this weird fascination with Poppies; throughout my life I’ve lived in a lot of places and in the places I’ve loved the most and have been the happiest, I would always see Poppies just growing randomly in fields or even in quite obscure places. Maybe I only noticed them cause I was/am happy but now whenever I see them I smile. They’re just lovely flowers.
My other half points them out to me now, we’ve often seen one or two just growing at the side of a road in our town. It was on one such occasion that I pointed out that I didn’t know what Poppies actually smelled like and I wonder if I could find a really nice Poppy scented candle somewhere.
A few days after those thoughts on Poppies a lovely package arrived at our home from Petunia’s Corner (see previous reviews HERE and HERE) and one candle in it was called Peppered Poppies. I will admit that I was nervous about smelling it and burning it, because I’d never smelled anything Poppy scented before and also because me and floral scents do just not mix well together. But seriously Dina from Petunia’s Corner has got her unique blend of scents, in all her candles, mastered!
Peppered Poppies is described as a fruity floral scent with a sharp peppery undertone, I most definitely got the peppery undertone but I also found it to be quite creamy and smooth almost as if it had a hint of vanilla or even something like buttercream in it. You can get a floral kick out of it, but from this candle I’m gonna assume that Poppies smell sweet and not headachey like a lot of floral scents.
I definitely saved the best for last with my candles from Petunia’s Corner, this was a really warm, comforting and happy scent, even himself commented on the scent and you know that when a man notices one candle out of the millions that you’ve burned that it must be good! Am I right?!

Dina sent some candles to review, with the fabulous gift wrapping it felt like it was my birthday. I just loved all the care and attention that went into the packaging, you can tell that Dina puts a lot of thought and love into her products.
I opted to try out Coconut Bourbon first, because well, eh why wouldn’t I?! It’s coconut and BOURBON!
“The scent of Kentucky bourbon, shredded coconut, whipped butter and Tahitian vanilla.”
When I first smelled this candle I could definitely smell the sweet coconut but when it was burning the hints of wood and the smokiness of the bourbon came through. The best way I can think to describe it is, ok imagine your having a Jack Daniels and Coke now throw a shot of Malibu into it, yeah, I want one now too. 😉
The scent wasn’t overpowering which some sweet candles can be, it was subtle and nice and I really enjoyed it.
The candle burned clean and flawlessly which I love, nothing worse than a candle that tunnels or smokes. Overall I was quite impressed with Petunia’s Corner candles and would definitely recommend them and gosh with the super cute packaging and attention to detail they would make great presents.
