Emma’s Eco Soy Candles Review

10 / 28 / 122 / 14 / 15

It was pure fate that brought Emma’s candles to me, I won’t bore you with the details but I will tell you about these Irish handmade candles and melts.

Emma Jane McGuire started making her own candles, because she was a candle nut like us, but a lot of candles and scents gave her headaches. She wanted to make some of the finest candles out there, with only the best ingredients.

Her Eco soy candles are all handmade in Ardee, Co.Louth, Ireland; with the finest quality soy wax and essential oils.

Emma was kind enough to send me some treats to try out and review.

First up a few wax tarts. I’ve yet to find a tart I don’t like and I have nothing bad to say about these.

Emma's Eco Soy Candles Wax Tarts

Lemongrass: Imagine the most lemony of lemon scents and that’s what this was like; really fresh. This would be a good substitute for citronella in the summer time.
Spring Romance: This one has Lavender, Bergamot and Ylang Ylang in it, I was nervous about the lavender because it gives me wicked headaches but I couldn’t really get any lavender off of it, which wasn’t a bad thing for me. This is just a nice floral feminine scent.
Orange & Palmarosa: A sweet orange scent, my favourite out of all three.

My next treat was a pretty little tin candle, in the lemongrass scent again.

This candle burned amazingly well as you can see and had a great strong smell off of it.

Towards the end of it I did go to trim the wick so it would last that big longer and the wick came out, but luckily it just fell back into place and I kept on burning it. I think I may have tugged a bit to hard with my wick trimmers…

Overall I liked Emma’s candles and tarts and liked that they were handmade with such love and great fragrances and that the packaging was Eco friendly (yay for green-ness!)

Scentsy Tiara Warmer Review

10 / 16 / 124 / 12 / 15

A while back I had been chatting to a friend on Twitter who was interested in being a sales rep/consultant for a company, and who knew my reply of “I dunno about them but I’ve heard great things about Scentsy…” would lead to great friendships and pretty things.

I won’t bore you will all the soppy details but since then I’ve been lucky to get try Scentsy for the first time ever and have made some great friends, and also bought lots of fabulous Christmas presents too.

As you probably already know I’m quite partial to a wax tart or two (or ten million) and like to have a different scent going everyday and pretty much all the time, this means that I tend to go through tea lights like craaaaazy; two sometimes three a day. Since I got my Scentsy warmer I haven’t used one, they’re genius.

Scentsy warmers are so safe, they’re designed to melt scented wax with the heat of a light: (Region 1 (USA/Canada) use a light bulb for heat, warmers in Region 2 (UK/Europe) use an LED light and a heating element.)  It really is a crazy genius idea especially for those with kids or pets or with silly friends who like to pick up the very hot metal dish on your oil burner just “to see what it smelled like!”

Scentsy Tiara Warmer

Look at my fabulous Tiara warmer, it’s like they made it just for me (Princess Samantha!) 😉

See, when it’s on the light shines through and gives such a pretty glow, almost like a night light (which again would be great for kids) I just love it so much. I now wanna get a different warmer for everyday of the week.

I’m so happy with Scentsy and my warmer; great customer service, fabulous consultants, amazing scents and products (the Scentsy Buddies, are so freakin cute!)

The day after I received my lovely products to try out I put in an order for some Christmas presents, seriously that’s how good they are, and they make the perfect gift for anyone. Not only that, but I threw out my (really old and not so pretty) oil burner with the friend burning metal dish on it.

What I love most about my Scentsy warmer is that it does just that, it warms, it doesn’t get hot so you don’t have to worry about burning yourself or someone getting burnt, the wax melts don’t get hot they just melt at a lower temperature and stay warm. Which leads to my second observation, I think that fact that they don’t get super hot means that the scent in the wax lasts longer. I can’t really explain it but I think that maybe higher the temperature the faster the fragrance will evaporate… I’m noticing that I’m not changing my melts as often as I would in my regular oil burner. They’re just great, I’m hooked.

Have you tried Scentsy warmers and wax melts before? Let us know your thoughts and recommendations in a comment below.

Copenhagen Candles Reed Diffuser Review

6 / 21 / 122 / 11 / 15

I was gifted a lovely Copenhagen Candle Company Fig and Herb Reed Diffuser today. I had never heard of Copenhagen Candles until today so it was a lovely surprise.

“Copenhagen Candles is proud to showcase our range of stylish and desirable products, with over 40 different fragrances between them. We pride ourselves on using natural, sustainable ingredients wherever possible, but always use only the purest waxes (including blends of natural waxes from sustainable sources) and the finest custom-blended French fragrances, many of which include natural essential oils.”

I love how instead of just the normal “sticks” you get with a reed diffuser you get a few Copenhagan Candle Company Reed Diffuserones with flowers on the top I think that is such a lovely touch.

I wrote about a previous experience with reed diffusers here, but this one looked quite fancy so I wasn’t worried too much about it being, well, crappy.

I was so impressed by the scent, fig and herb is such a unique combination I’d never have thought to combine them, but they work so well together.

The packaging on the reed diffuser was lovely and quite simple but I did find it a difficult to take out of the box, that could be their fault or it could be just me and lack of caffeine.

I’ve had mine all set up for a couple of hours now and I have to say I’m pretty impressed it’s not a sicky sweet scent, it’s not over powering and it’s doing what it’s meant to do.

Now I really want to try some of the Copenhagen Candle Companies candles!

Calico Creations Wax Melts Review

6 / 8 / 122 / 7 / 15

Yesterday was like Christmas here at Vanilla and Lime, a GINORMOUS package arrived for us from our friends at Calico Creations.

They sent us some fabulous candles and enough wax melts to last us a long long time.

Honestly we were amazed at all the different wax melts scents, like Buttered Popcorn, Fireplace, Mexican Fried Ice Cream and Butt Naked, we were most intrigued by that one and right now it’s probably one of our favourites, I couldn’t tell you exactly what it smells like but it smells gorgeous, a real fresh scent.

The scents and quality of the wax melts has blown us away, and we can’t recommend them enough. Each tart scent comes in a clam shell pack of six cubes and they’re such a bargain at only $2!

They have a huge list of scents to choose from and we went through the Sophie’s Choice-esque task of picking our favourites so that you wouldn’t have to choose, seriously get one of each of these:

Head on over to their shop honestly you’ll be amazed there such a huge range of beautiful products.

Calico Creations offer free shipping within the US, if you’re an international customer and send them an email @ contactus@mycalicocreations.com they’ll look after you.

PS. Ladies, you know when a gorgeous man walks by you and you breathe in the smell of his muscles, cologne and manliness? Well that’s what “Dude” smells like, it made us weak in the knees. We imagine it’s what Michael Fassbender smells like.
