Colonial Candle Coconut Rain Air Freshener Review

11 / 19 / 132 / 15 / 15

Colonial Candle Air FreshenerSam gave me this ages ago… it was sat in my candle box for months before I had a proper root in that box and was like “what are you doing in here?” The packet then sat on the table by the front door ready to go into my car the next time I went out. Yeah. That didn’t happen. Anyway a week or so passed and I have been so happy with our new home, we’ve been living here for two years now but it still feels so new. I like that feeling. I obviously have worked on different ways of fragrancing our house, it is mainly open plan so it can prove difficult.

But the room I struggled most with was the family bathroom. I hate overpowering scents but I wanted something that had enough smell but I didn’t want the boys to hate it. That is quite a task, believe me! I had tried many pot pourri efforts (and is it just me or do they not smell for long any more?) and also I had lit some candles before we had visitors to make it smell lovely. But I wanted something a bit more everyday and something I didn’t need to tend to. So I grabbed the air freshener from the table downstairs and hung it over the window handle. It was a complete guess as to whether this would work, it did! Read More

Witch City Wicks Christmas Range Review

12 / 12 / 122 / 15 / 15

We’ve been a bit obsessed with Witch City Wicks for a long time now so it was such a nice surprise to wake up a couple days ago to a delivery of lots of lovely candles and treats all the way from Salem, Massachusetts.

Words can’t express how personally excited I am to be working with Witch City Wicks, I’ve always had a love for all things spooky and witchy and dream of one day visiting Salem, and bringing back suitcases and suitcases filled with amazing candles and tarts.

We’ll have a few reviews coming, because we got so many goodies but first up let us tell you about their amazing Holiday range.

We were sent some lovely tealights and lots of votives to review…

Witch-City-Wicks-Votives

The Holiday Votive Sampler is just fabulous, it’d make an amazing gift for anyone this Christmas.
It has six holiday scented votives and each candle is labeled and shrink wrapped to maintain each candle’s unique fragrance. (It’s the little things….)

The scents included are:

Blue Spruce – “A strong pine scent that’s reminiscent of a winter walk in the woods.” Normally we stay well clear of pine scented things, not massive fans of them but there is just something so lovely and fresh about Blue Spruce, think it’s converted us, plus the colour is gorgeous.

Peppermint Bark – “A mouth watering combination of dark chocolate with a punch of peppermint.” No words…. we’ve never smelled anything quite so amazing. I would’ve never really gone out of my way to buy mint scented candles, but I’m officially hooked. This is creamy, chocolatey, minty, fresh and just heavenly. Another candle we worked hard not to eat…

Votive

Amaretto Egg Nog – “This creamy eggnog is a holiday warmer of sweet almond and vanilla.” You had us at Amaretto. This is just a lovely boozey, nutty, vanilla candle and we’re obsessed with it’s yumminess.

Merry Mistletoe – “A blend of citrus, blue spruce, and frosted cranberries create this perfect holiday scent!” You can really smell the cranberry and citrus notes in this candle and you know how we love citrus scents. It reminds us of home on a Christmas day.

Sugar Cookie – “Fresh baked, buttery cookies right from the oven.” No better way to describe it than that, and honestly the best sugar cookie candle we’ve ever tried!

Cranberry Balsam – “Get into the spirit with wonderful blend of cranberry with fresh greenery of balsam fir.” This candle smells insanely good, the only way we can describe it is, imagine decorating your real Christmas tree with fresh cranberries, sounds so good right?!

We love votives here at V&L, cause then we can try new ones faster. These votives burned amazingly well in our little holders and the scent off them was unreal.

We also got to try some Gingerbread Tealights….mmmmm gingerbread, so freakin good.

Gingerbread-Tealights
“Warm vanilla and spices for a fresh-from-the-oven gingerbread cookie scent.”

I always say never underestimate the fabulousness of a simple tealight; I honestly don’t think people realise how good a well made highly fragranced tealight can be. Witch City Wicks proved that I’m right once again, with their amazing little hunks of wax greatness.

Tealight

These tealights are jammed with fragrance and as soon as you light them you can smell them everywhere, actually you can smell them even before you light them!

The gingerbread scent is so good, another candle we wanted to eat! It’s like spicy and creamy with hints of vanilla, just so yummy.

Get your orders in now to ensure delivery for Christmas, oh and Witch City Wicks are offering free shipping too. Seriously get some and then you can thank us (and them) because everyone will love their presents and your home will smell amazing!

The Milk & Cookie Candle Company Melting Cubes Review

11 / 13 / 126 / 1 / 15

The Milk & Cookie Candle Company make some seriously yummy candles and are dedicated to being Eco-friendly.

Their candles are highly scented; they hand blend their fragrances and use the maximum amount of premium essential and fragrance oils possible in candle making.
They are creatively inspired by and love making super scrumptious flavors like Caramel Apple, Key Lime Pie, Cotton Candy and even Maple Bacon!

The Milk & Cookie Candle Company were so lovely to send us a bunch of treats to review…

First up lots of delicious, so surprised I haven’t eaten them, eco soy wax melting cubes.

Pumpkin Latte Wax MeltsPumpkin Latte – If you’re loving your Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks then you’ll love love LOVE this one. When you first smell it you get a sort of pumpkin pie scent but then the coffee hits you! It’s yum.

Donut Shop Wax MeltsDonut Shop – Smells exactly like it’s name, and even has sprinkles on top! Makes me want to go out and buy ALL the donuts, like everywhere.

Trick or Treat Wax MeltsTrick or Treat – This is a combination of tart apples, caramel apple and candy corn. Designed for Fall/Halloween but I’d have it going all year long. It’s sweet but you can really get a hit of the fresh apple scent.

Fresh Baked Bread Wax MeltsFresh Baked Bread – You HAVE to get this one, it’s insane! Smells like crusty white bread straight out of the oven. It’s not sweet which I love. Will most definitely be buying this scent again when my tarts run out.

Maple Bacon Wax MeltsMaple Bacon – Don’t be scared, it’s really good!
For years I’ve always said someone should make maple bacon perfume or candles, it’s one of my most favourite smells ever, and maple bacon is the top reason why I’m like a half ass vegetarian. So I was over the moon when the Milk & Cookie Candle Company sent me Maple Bacon wax melts, I thought I was dreaming. 🙂
Instead of it smelling pork-y (lol) it’s like a maple syrup smokey woody sort of scent, it’s really awesome, I’m amazed.

Over all I’m so impressed with the Milk and Cookie Candle Company; Trisha (the real brains behind the whole thing) is such a sweetheart and a pleasure to work with.

I love that they’re Eco friendly, even using recycled paper and packaging when sending out their products.
The melts give of such a long lasting scent and the packaging is just too cute, with the funky labels and the pretty hand tied bows, and how can you not love anything with sprinkles!

With a lot of unique scents (and lots of new ones for Christmas) I can’t wait to try more wonderful creations from the Milk and Cookie Candle Company.

Scentsy Tiara Warmer Review

10 / 16 / 124 / 12 / 15

A while back I had been chatting to a friend on Twitter who was interested in being a sales rep/consultant for a company, and who knew my reply of “I dunno about them but I’ve heard great things about Scentsy…” would lead to great friendships and pretty things.

I won’t bore you will all the soppy details but since then I’ve been lucky to get try Scentsy for the first time ever and have made some great friends, and also bought lots of fabulous Christmas presents too.

As you probably already know I’m quite partial to a wax tart or two (or ten million) and like to have a different scent going everyday and pretty much all the time, this means that I tend to go through tea lights like craaaaazy; two sometimes three a day. Since I got my Scentsy warmer I haven’t used one, they’re genius.

Scentsy warmers are so safe, they’re designed to melt scented wax with the heat of a light: (Region 1 (USA/Canada) use a light bulb for heat, warmers in Region 2 (UK/Europe) use an LED light and a heating element.)  It really is a crazy genius idea especially for those with kids or pets or with silly friends who like to pick up the very hot metal dish on your oil burner just “to see what it smelled like!”

Scentsy Tiara Warmer

Look at my fabulous Tiara warmer, it’s like they made it just for me (Princess Samantha!) 😉

See, when it’s on the light shines through and gives such a pretty glow, almost like a night light (which again would be great for kids) I just love it so much. I now wanna get a different warmer for everyday of the week.

I’m so happy with Scentsy and my warmer; great customer service, fabulous consultants, amazing scents and products (the Scentsy Buddies, are so freakin cute!)

The day after I received my lovely products to try out I put in an order for some Christmas presents, seriously that’s how good they are, and they make the perfect gift for anyone. Not only that, but I threw out my (really old and not so pretty) oil burner with the friend burning metal dish on it.

What I love most about my Scentsy warmer is that it does just that, it warms, it doesn’t get hot so you don’t have to worry about burning yourself or someone getting burnt, the wax melts don’t get hot they just melt at a lower temperature and stay warm. Which leads to my second observation, I think that fact that they don’t get super hot means that the scent in the wax lasts longer. I can’t really explain it but I think that maybe higher the temperature the faster the fragrance will evaporate… I’m noticing that I’m not changing my melts as often as I would in my regular oil burner. They’re just great, I’m hooked.

Have you tried Scentsy warmers and wax melts before? Let us know your thoughts and recommendations in a comment below.
