The Melt Crowd from Flamingo Candles Review – October – Supporting The Pink Ribbon Foundation

The October Melt Crowd box is not only extra pink and pretty, and very boobilicious, but it is totally awesome because it’s supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month and our buddies at Flamingo Candles are donating £2 from every box to the Pink Ribbon Foundation.
Myself and Sarah were kindly each sent a box from our buddies at Flamingo Candles to review, but we both still made donations to the Pink Ribbon Foundation.

In case you didn’t know already, the Melt Crowd is a monthly wax subscription box from Flamingo Candles. Each box contains eight handmade, soy wax Scent Melts. The individual fragrances are a surprise – they include a combination of old favourites, current scents, new yet-to-be launched scents and scents exclusive to The Melt Crowd. Plus to make it even better, your first box as a member of The Melt Crowd will include a wax burner, to ensure you’re fully ready to explore Flamingo Candles’ amazing scents. You’ll also get a 20% discount code too with every box.

So what scents were in this month’s box?

Black Tea & AlmondSmokey and sweet, Black Tea & Almond opens with sparkling aromas of black cherry, bergamot, red berries and almond. Bulgarian and Turkish roses rule the heart, further developed with notes of liquorice and smoked black tea. Aniseed, tonka bean, vanilla, iris and patchouli form the base.

Sam – I really like this scent it’s so unique, every time I smell it, I can detect something new and different. I think overall it’s like having some cherry bakewell tart by a wooden fire with a mug of calming herbal tea. It’s ever so comforting.

Sarah – This scent has always been one of those complicated scents which has so many aromas in it that it always confuses my scent senses. There’s black cherry, liquorice and tonka bean as just three unexpected sources in this scent. It’s a spicy and autumnal scent and reminds me of holidays abroad when you ask for a herbal tea and it’s a real herbal experience.

Frangipani & Lemon

Sarah – I love lemon scents but a floral lemon? Wasn’t sure. Turns out that I loved this one, the lemon isn’t overpowering and it’s not an obvious lemon scent. It’s more of a floral scent BUT I really liked it. It reminded me more of a perfume that I can’t quite place yet. Would love this in a candle for sure.

Sam – I really loved this scent, it’s so bright and refreshing. I like that the lemon  didn’t overpower the sweet, floral notes, they were blended together perfectly.

Mermaid DreamsA sweet blend of strawberry and banana.

Sam – Y’all know my situation with banananananas by now, so I think this one will be given to Sarah, but I do highly recommend all the other scents in the Mermaid Shack collection.

Sarah – My kids always love the banana type scents and they nag me to use them first. This strawberry and banana mix is very fun, it’s not too overpowering. It smells more like a strawberry & banana milkshake, it smells creamy and for those of you who don’t like the thought of drinking a mix milkshake… shame on you! Ha ha ha.

Oriental Lotus & RoseRich and sensual, Oriental Lotus & Rose is a floral fragrance with powdery soft top notes of rose otto and warming nuances of sweet magnolia with elements of soft lily and carnation also present. Supported by a pillow soft base of rich, soothing sandalwood, orchid, musk and amber.

Sarah – The last time I had this I gave it away as I don’t really always get on with floral scents. But after commenting on what scent was now fragrancing their home… I decided that this time I would keep it. It’s perfect for using in our guest bedroom as we’ve a few visitors over the next few weeks. Perfect.

Sam – I’ve had this scent before, I wasn’t sure about it then and I’m still not sure about it now. It is very floral, so if you like flowery scents then you’ll love this. There’s some powderyness and a bit of spice in it that makes it unique, but personally I’m just not a fan. It is a very luxurious aroma, I think if I mixed it with perhaps a milder scent like vanilla that I may like it.

Pink RibbonA rich, cranberry accord dominated by top notes of sweet cranberry blended with prune juice, complimented by a fruity floral heart of summer strawberry, sun ripened raspberry and citrus orange with sweet honey and rose notes. On dry down the base is woody and powdery with notes of cedarwood and vanilla with a hint of raspberry.

Sam – This is a really feminine and fruity fragrance. The cranberry, raspberry and orange in it make it a real tart aroma but the floral elements and the cedarwood and vanilla mellow the tartness out and add sweetness to it. It’s sort of powdery too.

Sarah One of my favourite Flamingo Candles. Pink Ribbon as a scent is fun and very homely. Also the charity aspect of this candle makes me love it more. Breast cancer has taken the life of one of my most favourite people in my life. I can’t speak highly enough of those who raise money for awareness and maybe someday a cure.

Pumpkin & Peach

Sarah – Another intriguing scent because I do love them both as scents on their own. Together they do mix well but it becomes more like a very sweet pumpkin smell rather than a peachy pumpkin. A change on the usual pumpkin scents!

Sam – I was really hoping for a unusual pumpkin scent in this month’s box and Flamingo Candles really exceeded my expectations with this scent. It smells like a sort of pumpkin and peach crumble, very sweet and decadent.

Rhubarb & PearA fresh green tart rhubarb and pear fragrance, supported by fruity nuances of peach, apple, orange and raspberry.

Sam – I’ve been seriously addicted to Rhubarb scents since Flamingo Candles released their limited edition rhubarb scented Bunny Kisses candle, so I’m always happy when I can try more rhubarb aromas. What makes me love this scent is that it’s literally all my favoruite fruity aromas blended together perfectly. It’s a really bright aroma and definitely perks you up.

Sarah – I loved this one before and I was happy to see it again. It’s a scent that you can use all year round but it accompanies the other fruity scents in this box so well.

Vetiver BlushA fruity and spicy scent of grapefruit, cypress, ginger and nutmeg. It is followed by a rich, woody note with vetiver, sandalwood and cedarwood. All resting on a base of ambergris and musk.

Sarah – This immediately had me intrigued – the grapefruit, the ginger and of course the vetiver! It’s very woody too but mixed with everything it makes a fab unisex scent which is good as my other half has been a little bored by autumn scents recently… this one made him ask what it was, always a good sign!

Sam – I’m a big fan of ginger scents and I love anything citrus based, but this scent is unlike anything I’ve ever smelled before, I love it, it’s so unique. It’s very spicy and the grapefruit gives it this extra zing. I’ll definitely be buying this in candle form, it’s my favourite scent in the box.
