Flamingo Candles are really on a roll with the Melt Crowds, we’ve been so impressed with the last few, they’ve had so many of our long time favourites and lots of new fabulous fragrances. The July Pool Party themed box was another winner for us, plus it was so bright and colourful, like a box of happiness.
So what scents were in it?
Beach Ball
Sarah – This reminded me a little of the scent ‘Thunderstorm’ that Flamingo Candles have. It seemed more aqua than anything else in the box. It was a very refreshing scent, not a favourite, but pleasant.
Sam – This is quite an oceanic type fragrance, it’s really fresh. It’s sort of a masculine type scent too, I can smell some musk in it. I don’t know if this would be a favourite of mine but it was nice melting in our guest bathroom.
Watermelon
Sam – I’ve mentioned before how I’m not a huge fan of watermelon but I do quite like it as a fragrance. This isn’t your average watermelon aroma, there’s so much more to it. There’s some other fruity elements in it and I can definitely smell vanilla, it’s like a watermelon, tropical fruit and ice cream sundae. Yum!
Sarah – I could smell this as soon as I first opened the box. Once melting I could smell banana!? I don’t know if there was any banana in this or my nose was deceiving me but something banana’ery was bringing out the watermelon scent more.
Thai Lime & Mango
Sarah – Ooh this one is a load of fruity fun! I love lime and mango is such a fun fruit too. Really good scent that reminds me of cocktails by the pool (party!).
Sam – This scent has been a Flamingo Candles favourite of mine for a long time, it’s a mighty powerful and long lasting aroma. On a gold smell you really get the tart and zesty lime but when it’s melting that sweet, juicy, ripe mango element comes through. It reminds me of a tropical cocktail, and makes me want to go on vacation so freakin bad!
Sweet Lime & Cedar
Sam – This scent is so fresh and zesty, with woody elements. It’s the perfect scent for that transition between Summer and Autumn.
Sarah – This did have a slight cleaning product smell at first but after about ten minutes it was like a completely different scent! It was more woody with a slight lime undertone and it seemed to keep changing too. I’d leave the room and the lime would kick back in again. Not a favourite at first, but it soon became one.
Pomegranate Cider
Sarah – A real favourite of both of ours! I’m a pomegranate scent fiend and anything boozy is always going to be a winner. This was a great addition to this themed box.
Sam – This is another long time favourite of mine, it’s a nice twist on the traditional aroma of cider. It has the spicy elements that cider does but the pomegranate gives it a real punch of sweetness. I just love it, it’s really comforting and uplifting, perfect for this time of year as it starts getting a little darker and colder.
Pineapple & Raspberry
Sam – I had high hopes for this scent as pineapple and raspberry are two of my all favourite fragrances but it just wasn’t as strong as I hoped. I think perhaps it needed more tart raspberry in it.
Sarah – I was really excited about this scent as I love them both but I didn’t get a great throw from this one. It seemed pretty strong in the packet but not so much when melting.
Mango & Dragonfruit
Sarah – I didn’t have anything Game of Thrones themed for the start of the new series and because this one had ‘dragon’ in the name. I know I’m so lame! Much like the Thai Lime & Mango one, this really packs a punch! I’m not sure but I might be starting a mango phase…
Sam – This scent is so delightful, fresh and sweet. I can really smell peach in it and the mango really pops with this fragrance. When it’s melting orange really comes through as well as some other tart, bright elements.
Lemon Curd
Sam – This scent is the perfect balance of sweet and sour, tart, fizzy lemon sweetened by vanilla and sugar. But the reason I love it so much is it has this creamy buttery element to it, almost makes it smells sorta cakey. It makes me so hungry!
Sarah – Lemon is a real fab scent and especially good on those really hot and humid days that we’ve been having. The air can be so stale and stuffy, lemon really brings some coolness. Even though it’s not a magic power and doing it, it’s a trick of your mind. This Lemon Curd scent really is strong and I love it.
