So what was in the May Carnival Melt Crowd box?
Strawberry & Banana Waffles
Sarah – First thing I thought when I saw this was that Sam probably wouldn’t like it. But I couldn’t smell any banana really. It’s much more of a buttery waffle with strawberries. It’s yummy!
Sam – So y’all know by now that I don’t like banana scents, I’m super sensitive to them and generally, I can smell anything banana a mile away, but I couldn’t smell any when I opened my Melt Crowd, so I was surprised to a banana scent in it. I asked Sarah to melt her’s first so that she could tell me how bananananana-y it was. She said it wasn’t too banananana-ish and that her other half couldn’t smell the banana at all. So I thought I’d give it a go. I melted it in our guest room just in case the banana came out more when it was melting, and I honestly couldn’t detect any banana at all, it was quite nice, made me want all the waffles. It smelled like freshly cooked waffles drizzled it sweet strawberry syrup. Om nom nom.
Kir Royale – Sweet and spritzy, Kir Royale is a fruity creme de cassis fragrance, lavished with notes of sparkling wine.
Sam – This is such a bright, tart fragrance and you can really smell the fizziness. Most blackcurrant scents remind me of Lemsips, but this one is quite a grown up aroma, it’s really fancy.
Sarah – I’ve mentioned before how this scent is a favourite of mine. I have found it to be a particularly motivating scent and I have blamed the boozy smells that linger from it… Whatever works to get me working, right?! Another summer staple.
Lemongrass & Lime
Sarah – I’m so in love with lemon at the moment. Lemon scents, homemade lemonade, lemon chicken… Loving lemon! Also bringing a lot more yellow to my wardrobe too. This is another scent that’s great for calming. Also it’s really good for getting rid of any food smells in the kitchen.
Sam – This is such a strong refreshing fragrance. The tangy lemongrass and the zesty lime really perk you up.
Sam – This is definitely one of my favoruite scents from Flamingo Candles. The sweet fig mixed with the tart pomegranate and citrus notes, then all those wonderfully warm and spicy elements make it such a sexy fragrance, I’d love it in perfume form. It’s very unique I’ve never smelled anything like it before.
Sarah – Everyone knows about my obsession with pomegranate and this one is high on my list of favourites. I really love fig scents too, having the two together makes me very happy.
This would be one of my scent choices for buying as a gift for someone.
Seville Orange
Sarah – I’ve mentioned before how much I like that I have an alternative to Wax Lyrical’s Mediterranean Orange with this one. Orange is a very calming scent for me. Good for my anxiety.
Sam – Another Flamingo Candles scent that I just love, it’s so bright and citrussy. You can get the tartness of the orange peel and then the sweetness of the fresh, juicy pulp. I wanna eat it! This is one of the best orange scents I’ve ever smelled.
Kiwi
Sam – I don’t know how I feel about this scent, I don’t hate it but I don’t love it, it’s a bit bland, I feel like it’s missing something. It kind of just smells like a mild melon type fragrance, I think maybe adding some lime to it, or some more tropical fruit scents would really jazz it up.
Sarah – Wasn’t keen on this one sadly. I absolutely love the actual fruit though but this seemed too melon and watery as a scent.
Sarah – Have we mentioned how much we love cocktails? Ha! Several thousand times.
This is one of our favourite drinks of all time but we call them “colafas” due to an autocorrect fail. Or not a fail maybe as it’s like our own code.
Another perfect scent for summer.
Sam – This is one of the many scents that I’ve always bought from Flamingo Candles and will continue to do so. Imagine the ultimate, the most luxurious and decadent Piña Colada and that’s exactly what this smells like.
Oh, that reminds me, I need to stock up on frozen cocktails. 😛
Birthday Cake
Sam – This scent was an exclusive bonus fragrance for May, to celebrate the Melt Crowd’s birthday and if there’s anything that just screams BIRTHDAY, it’s cake! This is one of the most delicious cakey cake scents I’ve ever smelled and y’all know me, I LOVE food scents. You can definitely smell vanilla but I can detect subtle hints of cocoa too, maybe some caramel. YUMMY! I want to eat it.
Sarah – I always love my birthday month and I ESPECIALLY love sharing it with the Melt Crowd. 2 years old! This is one of my favourite scents to calm, relax and put me in a good mood. Does make you want cake though – never a bad thing!
Sarah – Think I’ve only had this once before and as soon as it started melting, I said “why have I not got more of this”. My dog looked at me puzzled which is probably the right reaction for someone talking to herself. It’s such a fruity punch of a scent and it’s perfect for summer.
Sam – I was so happy to see so many of my favourite Flamingo Candles fragrances in this box, this is another one, I always have some in my stash.
The sweet, juicy pear and plum elements mixed with those zesty, citrus fruits and the subtle floral notes, make this a really lovely, happy scent. I’d highly recommend it, again this is another very unique fragrance, you won’t find anything else like it.
