The Melt Crowd from Flamingo Candles Review – February – Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentines Day!

We’re huge V-Day fans here at Vanilla & Lime, we’re mushy, soppy, and love all things pink, red, and heart-shaped. It’s the way everything should be. We’re always giddy waiting for our Melt Crowd boxes to arrive but we’ve been discussing the Valentine’s Day themed box for months; what we thought would be in it, what and we hoped would be in it. Needless to say, Flamingo Candles surprised us again and made us two very happy love bugs.

In case you don’t know already, The Melt Crowd is a monthly wax subscription box from Flamingo Candles. Each box contains eight delicious Scent Melts. The individual fragrances are a surprise – they include a combination of old favourites, current scents, new yet-to-be-launched scents and scents exclusive to The Melt Crowd. With your first box as a member of The Melt Crowd, you’ll receive a wax burner, to ensure you’re fully ready to explore Flamingo Candles’ amazing scents. You’ll also get a 20% discount code too with every box.

So what was in the February box?

Cherry Cola

Sam – I’m gonna have to INSIST that Flamingo Candles bring this scent out full time. It’s definitely my favourite scent out of the box. It smells exactly like the real thing, fizzy, refreshing cola with a splash of sweet, juicy cherries. It’s yummy!

Sarah – Cherry based scents are always a winner but I felt this needed a little extra wow factor to it. The cherries needed a bit more pow for me. It’s lovely though but I think the cola really softened it out.

Love Bug

Sarah – What a gorgeous mix of scents, it did smell like Christmas with the cranberry wafting through the others. A great scent for all year round but more of a “snug” scent. Keeps you feeling warm even though the weather isn’t!

Sam – This reminds me of sherbet, it’s a very zingy aroma. It’s a lovely blend of citrus and berry elements and is super strong and very uplifting.

Geranium

Sam – I’m not the best person to describe floral scents as I’m not a fan of them unless they’re blended with other notes, to me this just smells like a garden of flowers, it’s quite strong, which would be a good thing for those who like floral scents.

Sarah – A bit of a surprise to see this one mixed with this box but it’s pleasant enough just not my type of scent. Would be a great spring scent if you’re into your floral type scents.

Mango

Sarah – Lovely fruity mango that filled my home with the feeling of tropical sunshine and beaches… when it was snowing outside. Only downside was that it didn’t last very long, only got a strong throw off of the first tealight.

Sam – Mango is one of my favourite fruits, I love eating it with some frozen yoghurt, it’s delicious. This smells exactly like fresh, juicy, tropical mango, it’s such a delectable aroma. This scent would be good for some mixology, perhaps with other exotic scents like pineapple or coconut. Yum!

Passionfruit & Lime

Sam – Tropical, juicy passionfruit mixed with bright, zesty limes, this is such a wild fragrance, it’s super strong and is definitely a scent that would energise you.

Sarah – My absolute favourite of this box. But be warned it’s really got some throw! It’s one of the strongest scent melts I’ve had from Flamingo Candles in some time. I feel that passionfruit is quite the forgotten fruit with candle/wax makers so this was a very interesting blend.

Raspberry Chocolate

Sarah – I was quite excited about this one as I’ve had strawberry variations of this and they’ve been fun scents. This was a little too sickly for me.

Sam – If only it was edible! Definitely another favourite of mine. It smells like plump, juicy, tart raspberries drizzled with sinfully delicious melted milk chocolate. On a cold smell, you get mainly the chocolate notes but the raspberry really comes through when it’s melting.

Strawberry & Vanilla

Sam – To me this smells like the most decadent strawberry milkshake ever. Rich, creamy vanilla ice cream blended with sugary, sweet strawberry syrup and heaps of fresh, juicy strawberries for added yumminess.

Sarah – This was yum! A little overpowering at first but it soon mellowed out. Vanilla is one of my favourite scents so this was the first to be used from the box. It didn’t disappoint. It’s not the synthetic strawberry smell either. Yum! (Did I say that twice?)

Rose

Sarah – Now you’ll all know by now that isn’t a fave scent but it is Valentine’s Day so I have to appreciate rose I guess one day of the year… maybe. It’s a lovely floral scent that everyone (except us) seems to love and enjoy.

Sam – I’m not a fan of rose scents, they make me sneeze like crazy so I haven’t melted this one, but it does smell more realistic than other rose scents that I’ve smelled. It smells like a rose garden, petals, stems, greenery and all. If you like rose scents this would be a winner for you.
