In case you don’t know, The Melt Crowd is a monthly wax subscription box from our fabulous friends at Flamingo Candles. Each box contains eight delicious Scent Melts. The individual fragrances are a surprise – they include a combination of old favourites, current scents, new yet-to-be launched scents and scents exclusive to The Melt Crowd.
Last month, The Melt Crowd had a Sugar vs Spice theme, you can read our review of that HERE, this month Flamingo have brought us another themed box, it’s Out Of This World!
So what scents were in this box?
Banana Pancakes – “A warm and delicious edible smelling fragrance of sweet homemade pancakes and creamy mashed banana.”
Sarah – This was the first one that my kids picked up so naturally it was melted first. They know full well that Sam won’t like this one and make a bit of a game of any banana scents. It’s not overly in your face banana, it smells more like a banana cake than banana pancakes. But very nommy!
I had to make banana pancakes after.
Sam – Y’all know by now that I just can’t handle anything banana scented so this one will be going to Sarah’s house. But no doubt that Flamingo probably nailed this banana pancake combo.
Hot Fudge – “A sweet, creamy hot fudge accord with notes of demerara sugar and vanilla.”
Sam – I wanna eat this! It’s such a decadent aroma, you can almost taste the rich, velvety fudge when it’s warming. It has that creamy, kind of buttery element that I love so much in dessert type fragrances.
I’ve often heard that having sweet fragrances surrounding you can help curb cravings for naughty treats, but seriously all this makes me want to do is go to the shop, buy all the fudge, melt it and just chug it! 😛
Sarah – I feel this scent should come with a warning about how hungry it will make you. It’s so yummy! Think about your favourite hot fudge cake pudding and then multiply that smell by 10 and you’re almost there.
Best enjoyed with hot fudge cake.
Rhubarb & Pear – “A fresh green tart rhubarb and pear fragrance, supported by fruity nuances of peach, apple, orange and raspberry.”
Sarah – We love our fruity scents so this was always going to be winner! I like that it’s sweet but I also really like that it’s not too overpowering. The two scents are quite strong on their own but compliment each other so well. Fabulous mixology!
Sam – I’ve been seriously addicted to Rhubarb scents since Flamingo Candles released their limited edition rhubarb scented Bunny Kisses candle, so I was crazy happy to see that they brought out another rhubarb scent. What makes me love this scent is that it’s literally all my favoruite fruity aromas blended together perfectly. It’s a really bright aroma and definitely perks you up.
Chai Tea Latte – “A rich, indulgent spicy chai tea fragrance including notes of ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, apple, pear, cinnamon, quince, cumin seeds and warm milk.”
Sam – One of my most favourite indulgent treats is chai lattes, if I could have them everyday I would. This is such a warm, comforting aroma and smells even better than the real thing. I’ll definitely be stocking up on Chai Tea Latte.
Sarah – Sam loves her tea scents so I will give this one to her. It’ll probably be a swap for the banana pancakes one, ha ha. It’s not that I don’t like tea scents but she will enjoy this more.
Cranberry, Orange & Cinnamon – “Zesty and refreshing, Cranberry Orange & Cinnamon Explosion is a blend of sweet cranberries enhanced with the spicy notes of orange peel, and the woody notes of Cinnamon sticks followed with sharp zest of lemon rind to give this fabulous fragrance a kick.”
Sarah – I love the Christmas fragrances for really bringing out the fun this time of year. I’m so addicted to cranberries that I’m not sure why I don’t have them all through the year. This is a lovely, homely and inviting scent that your guests will love.
Sam – One of my favourite things to do before Christmas is to make cranberry sauce, I like it with my turkey and for jazzing up all the leftovers but I just LOVE the aroma that fills the house as the sauce is cooking away. This scent smells just like that but with an extra kick to it. It’s very zesty and uplifting.
Popcorn – “A blend of sweet vanilla, cream, crunchy baked biscuits and hot caramel to release the sweet, buttery scent of burning popcorn.”
Sam – This is one of those sweet and salty combinations that will make you so hungry. Myself and Sarah are popcorn addicts so this one is definitely a winner. You can really smell all the elements too, the salty popcorn, the creamy butter, the decadent caramel and the rich vanilla. It’s all kinds of yum!
Sarah – Sam and I often discuss popcorn, it’s a rather addictive thing for us and we’re always finding new favourites to recommend. Much like hot fudge scent, I’d recommend making sure you have some food ready to eat!
Strawberry & Geranium – “A bright and fresh accord featuring a fusion of ripened strawberries, bergamot, rose geranium and hints of vanilla.”
Sarah – I’m a keen gardener and I love strawberries so I had assumed that I would love this. Because handling a strawberry plant does give you a very distinctive scent. It wasn’t even close to that, it’s more green than fruity. This will be another heading Sam’s way.
Sam – I was a bit unsure about this scent when I first saw it, cause y’all know I’m not crazy about floral scents but there’s just something about it that I really like. It’s a really bright scent, I can smell some tartness in it along side the sweet, juicy strawberries. I think the floral elements add a femininity to it and the vanilla blends everything together beautifully.
Black Raspberry & Vanilla – “Sweet and fruity, Black Raspberry & Vanilla is a delicious scent of ripe raspberries with hints of strawberry, sandal, jasmine, vanilla and musk.”
Sam – The tartness of the ripe black raspberries in this scent is well balanced by the rich vanilla vanilla note, making it very fruity without being too sweet. The jasmine adds a really feminine element, and the musk adds like a kick of spice to it, I would love this scent as a perfume.
Sarah – Vanilla scents really hit me right in the happiness side of life. Raspberries are one of my favourite foods so the mix of the two is AH-MA-ZING! There is something decadent about this though, feels rich with scent. Definitely a scent for stressful days!
