The Melt Crowd from Flamingo Candles Review – April

Our buddies at Flamingo Candles sent us another Melt Crowd box to try out and review, we’re so grateful because we just LOVE their products. You can read our previous Flamingo Candles reviews HERE.

The Melt Crowd is a monthly wax subscription box from Flamingo Candles. Each box contains eight delicious Scent Melts. The individual fragrances are a surprise – they include a combination of old favourites, current scents, new yet-to-be launched scents and scents exclusive to The Melt Crowd.

So what scents were in the April box?

The Melt Crowd Flamingo Candles

Raspberry & Salted CaramelSweet and creamy, Raspberry & Salted Caramel is a delicious treat for the senses. Fruity notes of raspberry blend with anise, buttercream and vanilla-based caramel.

Sam: This is one of my all time fave scents ever and even though I already have a stash of it, I’m always happy to get more. It’s two of the greatest scents ever combined…GENIUS! If you love fruity or dessert type scents then you will go crazy for this one.

Sarah: One of my favourites from Flamingo Candle. The zing of the raspberry with the melty caramel centre. It’s basically decadence in wax form.

*The Melt Crowd Exclusive* Sparkling Diamonds A rich, Oriental fragrance where sweet raspberry, exotic lychee and tart citrus hints rest upon a floral heart of rose and freesia. These are enwrapped by sumptuous base notes of woods, amber and musk sweetened by a hint of vanilla.

Sam: I like this scent, it’s subtle and and a little sweet. It reminds me of sherbet, which I wouldn’t have assumed based on it’s official scent description. The woody and musk notes, make it sort of have masculine “mandle” type properties.

Sarah: Kinda weird. I thought it was champagne like at first and now I feel more sweetie jar scented.

WILD Dewberry Inspired by one of our favourite perfumes from back in the day, Dewberry is a floral and fruity scent consisting of citrus ozonic notes combined with leafy greens, blackcurrant and tea.

Sam: We’re so in love with the new Flamingo Candles WILD collection inspired by the 90s, cause like everything was so cool in the 90s! I’ve already ordered some candles and melts from it too, but I didn’t order anymore of the Dewberry products. I don’t not like it, I’m just so confused by it ha ha ha. I just don’t know what to make of it and that’s never really happened with me before.  At first it’s like a sweet floral scent but then there’s citrus elements that come through, it’s a crazy combination of aromas. I’m gonna keep it melting for as long as I can and hopefully I figure this fragrance out.

Sarah: We’re both excited about the Wild Collection but this one and the White Musk one will definitely be no-no’s for me. I didn’t hate this Dewberry one but I didn’t like it either, it perhaps just has too many elements to it.

If you’ve had Dewberry too, we’d love to know what you thought of it, please let us know in a comment below.

*The Melt Crowd Exclusive* Spring Bloom

Sam: I have to say this is probably the prettiest wax melt I’ve ever seen, however the scent is just not for me. If you like floral scents then you’ll probably go nuts for Spring Bloom. Just imagine every kind of flower, ever, in full bloom in one room, that’s what it smells like to me. Some may love the sound of that, but unfortunately it just made me sneeze.

Sarah: As you know I’m not big on floral scents. But I know someone who will love this and she’ll be even more delighted by the design. This is a very strong floral scent that would easily substitute not having real flowers in bloom in your home.

*The Melt Crowd Exclusive* English Pear & Freesia

Sam: Pear I like, freesia, not so much. I was intrigued about this scent, but sadly I’m not a fan. I guess I was hoping it would be more peary than fressiay. It’s sweet and very floral, I think if you’re into floral scents than you’ll like this.

Sarah: Although I don’t like floral scents, pear and freesia has been a scent mix that I’ve loved in the past. For me, this particular combination was too much freesia and not enough pear.

Strawberry Cream Tea Deliciously tempting, juicy strawberries and cream interwoven with mouth-watering buttery scones, all refreshed with a hint of tea. A charming afternoon treat!

Sam: This scent is so yum! It’s got that sweet and salty thing going that I LOVE; the strawberry element smells like homemade jam and it’s mixed with salty, creamy butter and freshly baked, fluffy scones. Oh I’m making myself hungry now. I can’t really get the hint of tea in it, but seriously y’all that so doesn’t even matter. It’s delectable. I’m really lovin Strawberry Cream Tea and am going to treat myself to this scent in candle form….and about twelve dozens scones too. 😛

Sarah: Hellooooo bakery foodie scent, yum! Obviously this packs a punch of strawberry but it smells like a cake with loads of strawberry jam and icing. It smells so gooood!

*The Melt Crowd Exclusive* April Showers

Sam: At first I was a little unsure about this scent but actually, it’s really grown on me. It’s quite refreshing and although it is a bit floral I think the citrus elements in it tone down the floral notes. This would be lovely to have melting in your bathroom, especially when guests come over. It’s nice, most definitely a scent for Spring.

Sarah: “Drip drip drop, little April shower” if only that was true, I’ve seen hail this month more than showers! This is like the waterfall and aquatic scents that you see. It’s fresh and clean, perfect for the bathroom. It’s not incredibly strong and that’s what I do really like about this. It’s not too overpowering.

*The Melt Crowd Exclusive* Sweet Peanuts

Sam: I dunno if you’ve ever had a PayDay before, it’s a candy bar made up of salted peanuts rolled in caramel with a gooey nougaty centre, like heaven in a wrapper. Well, anyway, this is that but in scented wax form. It’s sweet and salty and just yum! I’m absolutely devastated that this is an exclusive scent and not a preview scent cause I would love to buy more of this and definitely in candle form.

Sarah: I really, really, REALLY hope this one comes back because I love it so much. Think of peanut butter but real buttery peanuts and then bake them a bit… there you go! Amazing.
