I’m so happy that it’s almost autumn, I’m loving the cooler days and nights, I honestly thought the crazy heatwaves and all the humidity would never go away.
I don’t have a lot of favourites this month, I’ve kept my makeup and skincare pretty minimal in the heat, although I can already feel the cold starting to dry my skin out so no doubt I’ve have lots of skincare faves over the next couple of months.
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution – I wasn’t sure what to expect from a peeling product with such a low price tag, especially as I’ve spent a lot of money on those types of products before, but holy wow, The Ordinary knocked it out of the park with this.
The first time I used it, it tingled for a few seconds at first but that stopped and when I took it off after the suggested ten minutes, my skin felt like silk! My pores were tightened up, my skin was firmer and I noticed a big difference in colouration, my skin was so much brighter. I loved how instant the results were. I’ve been using this once a week and am always amazed at what it does for my skin.
If I was to recommend one Ordinary product to buy it would be this one.
Elie Saab Girl Of Now Shine Eau De Parfum – My super sweet hubby, who was feeding my addiction, bought me this perfume for my birthday in July, I’ve already made quite a dent in it. The official description says it has top notes of roasted pistachio and pineapple, heart notes of ylang ylang, jasmine and ormond flower, and base notes of iris, vanilla and patchouli. I personally think it smells like sweet, syrupy pineapple cake, with vanilla whipped cream on top and some almonds too. It’s very decadent, I love it.
Jeffree Star Androgyny Palette – I have the Beauty Killer palette already, which is one of my most used palettes and when I saw that this was on sale I knew I’d be stupid not to get it. The shades are extremely pigmented, so creamy and blendable. All shades are a joy to work with and there’s so much you can do with the palette in terms of creativity. I think my Beauty Killer palette will have some competition.
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Body Gel Cream – Hyaluronic acid is the greatest ingredient ever, it’s capable of holding up to a thousand time its weight in water, so you can just imagine the amazing things it does for your skin.
I have dry skin and I’ve been using this for a couple of months now and it’s really good. It’s lightweight, quick-absorbing and smells really refreshing. My skin has felt really soft and supple.
On colder days I’ve been using this as like a serum, before an extra thick body cream and that combination is amazing. I’m going to try more products from the Hydro Boost range, the Express Hydrating Spray and the Whipped Body Balm, sound particularly amazing.
Scentsy Chocolate Coconut Cream – Generally I’m not a huge lover of chocolate aromas, quite often they smells really fake. I bought this one on a whim as it’s currently on offer, and I’m obsessed! I’ve already stocked up on it. When it’s warmed, it has the decadent aroma of a delicious dessert, filled with rich cocoa and coconut cream.
Magic For Humans On Netflix – I love magic and magicians, have done since I was a kid, even the simplest of tricks amaze me. So when I saw this I knew I’d have to watch it, and after one episode I was hooked. It’s about Justin Willman, a magician who does everything from baffling random strangers on the street to big elaborate tricks. Myself and my husband binge watched it and I literally just sit there with the biggest shocked look on my face the whole time and going “oh my gawd, did you see that?!” or “WHAT THE F*CK?!” It’s super funny when he does tricks with kids on it, their reactions are hilarious, they’re pretty much the same as mine.
Making It TV Series – This is a reality competition series co-hosted by Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. The show features craftspeople competing to win $100,000, they have to make a couple of different pieces each week and then someone is voted off. Even if you’re not into crafts or arty things, this show is so good, and Nick and Amy are hilarious, even my husband loves to watch it with me. It’s a roller coaster of emotions as well, man I’ve cried in so many episodes. It’s something great to watch when you want to unwind and not think too much. The first series is finished now, so it’s available to binge watch and they’ve been renewed for a second season which I’m super happy about.
