We’re the biggest Feel Unique fans and have become more than OBSESSED with their Pick N Mix.
What is it?
You choose up to five samples per month for FREE. You pay only £3.95 shipping and handling fee but you then get a £3.95 gift voucher in your follow-up email which you can redeem on a future purchase (excluding Pick ‘n’ Mix) in store.
Our lives literally revolve around Pick N Mix now, we discuss what we’ve chosen and what we will choose regularly and count down the days until we can get it again. We get over excited when we see new products in it and love saving up our vouchers for big purchases which more often than not include products that we’ve tried in the Pick N Mix and loved.
We thought it’d be super fun to do a Pick N Mix swap, we chose five products each and had them shipped to each other rather than to ourselves. We trust each other completely so didn’t have any rules or anything, plus as you’ll see we know each other TOO well…
What Sam picked for Sarah and why…
Paco Rabanne Olympéa Intense Eau de Parfum – Sarah and I are nose twins, we pretty much like and dislike all the same fragrances (except banana) and when I saw that this perfume had two of Sarah’s all-time favourite notes, vanilla and amber, I was like “SOLD!”
Sarah’s Review – I had to laugh when I saw this as I had also picked this out for Sam. Probably more because I wanted her to tell me if it was any good, I trust her opinion. I really loved this and I quickly snapped up a full bottle on eBay. It’s a really uplifting scent and definitely one of my current perfume favourites that I reach for.
ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm Sample – We’re big fans of the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm and when I was doing research on cleansing balms, to see if there were any others that might be good to try out, the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm came highly recommended so I thought Sarah wouldn’t mind being a guinea pig and trying this product out, I always trust her opinion on products.
Sarah’s Review – Absolutely loved this! I didn’t need a lot to get adequate coverage and got about six uses from one sample. My skin felt so smooth after but I looked up the price and it’s still more in the high-end scale. I’ll look out for it on any offers and I’m quite intrigued to try more Elemis products. Discounts seem to run more on buying two or more of their products, so I need to make it worth it!
Matis Reponse Jeunesse Optimal Moisturising Serum – When we were discussing this swap, Sarah had mentioned that her skin was quite dry so this sounded like something that would sort that out.
Sarah’s Review – My skin is totally combination and then during the early months of the year I get really dry patches of skin on my face. Yuck! Serums have been a great addition to my skincare routines in recent years and I’m always happy to try a new one. The best thing with this was that I really didn’t need much at all and it did give my skin a noticeable lift. This again is pretty high on the price scale but again if it was on offer, I’d totally take the opportunity.
Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge Fresh Fragrant Water – This has been in the Feel Unique Pick ‘N’ Mix selection for a while, and I saw it in a local pharmacy of mine and I tried it and loved it, and as I mentioned earlier, Sarah and myself love all the same types of scents so I knew she’d like this. Plus, I think it’s a really uplifting aroma which I knew she’d appreciate.
Sarah’s Review – This was such a fabulous choice! I’d never come across this before and it really did make me feel happy. There’s something very warming about it, it’s definitely getting purchased!
Black|Up 8 Hour Correcting Primer – We’re serious primer hoarders and there’s so many that we love but we’re both always willing to try new ones, this had glowing reviews and I thought “hey, another primer couldn’t hurt…”
Sarah’s Review – I was so close to picking this for Sam and when I saw it in mine, I had to laugh. I used this under my L’Oréal cushion foundation and it really accompanied it well. It’s priced more than my favourite Bare Minerals one so I probably wouldn’t buy it as it didn’t do anything new or different. A very good back-up though.
What Sarah picked for Sam and why…
Caudalie Vinosource S.O.S. Thirst Quenching Serum – We both love serums and I trust Caudalie a lot with skincare options. I liked the sound of it being thirst quenching as I know Sam has dry skin so I was hoping it would be the one!
Sam’s Review – I’ve always had dry skin so I’m a serum monster, I generally like all serums and my skin just soaks them up. I’m a fan of Caudalie products but hadn’t tried this one before, I really liked it because a little went a long way, I got about three uses out of my sachet and it did make my skin feel super soft and helped my primer and makeup go on a lot better.
I think I’ll purchase this serum when I’ve used up all my current serum.
REN Keep Young and Beautifulâ„¢ Instant Brightening Beauty Shot Eye Lift – I’ve loved every REN product I’ve tried so far but I’ve never tried any of their eye products so this was a half risk. Sam loves eye products so I was hoping she’d become a REN fan too.
Sam’s Review – Eye creams are my new obsession, especially samples of them, basically because most full-size eye creams are only about 15ml so why not keep switching it up when samples sizes can be about 3mls or more. Anyway, Sarah always raves about REN products so I was excited to try this, I was excited at the thought of some instant brightening, sadly I didn’t notice anything different. I got a few uses out of my sample and I liked how moisturising this was but it was nothing magical, I don’t think I’d buy a full size of it.
BIODERMA Sensibio Eye Contour Gel – Back on the eyes again… I was intrigued because this was a gel rather than a cream. Thought it would be good to give Sam some more options on her favourite eye products!
Sam’s Review – This is a great eye cream for tired, puffy eyes. I first used it one morning, when I was extremely hungover and it perked my eyes right up, I looked a lot less rough and sleep deprived. 😛 It has a lovely cooling sensation, I would definitely use it again. I think it’d be a great eye cream to use on and after long-haul flights.
Leonor Greyl L’Huile de Leonor Greyl Beautifying Oil for Lengths and Ends – This was the first thing that I chose for Sam. We have several conversations every single day about our favourite products, recent samples that we’ve loved and general skincare/haircare gossip. We have both tried a load of hair oil products and I saw from the reviews that this looked great.
Sam’s Review – I have really dry hair and a very sensitive scalp, so I’m always looking for products that will help my hair but won’t irritate my scalp; I liked that you use this prior to washing your hair because sometimes with products that I’ve used after cleaning my hair, they’ve either weighed my curls down or irritated my scalp.
I have long thick hair so I used the whole sample (could’ve probably done with about five more) I left it in for a few hours then washed it out and conditioned my hair as normal. I noticed my hair was a bit less frizzy, I think had I had more of the product I would’ve noticed more of a difference. I will buy this for sure as I have a feeling it will make hair super soft and silky.
Paco Rabanne Olympéa Intense Eau de Parfum – As I said above, I had probably picked this out for Sam to tell me how good it was. But I also thought that she would love it too. Whenever I have sniffed a perfume and said how much I like it, I know she remembers to give it a try too. This is now one that we both have sniffed. 😉
Sam’s Review – I laughed so much when I saw this in my box, Sarah had received her Pick N Mix before me and was so good at not letting on that we had gotten each other the same perfume. I told you we were nose twins!
I liked this perfume, the salty note in it really stood out for me and I could smell the amber in it, I think the vanilla blended the two together nicely. I don’t know if I’d be in a rush to go out and buy Olympéa Intense, I do however want 1 Million Prive also by Paco Rabanne, which is technically for men but to me it smells like sexy apple pie, so freakin yummy!
We both LOVED doing this and we’re planning to swap again soon!Â
