So what was in the fabulously festive Sparkle & Shine Christmas themed box?
There was a gorgeous pink tree decoration that we both put up straight away onto our trees. Such a lovely, thoughtful gift. Thank you!
Mulled Wine & Berries – Rich and warm, Mulled Wine & Berries is a seasonal accord recalling mulled wine and including apple, sweet berries, wine, brandy, orange, clove, ginger, cinnamon and vanilla.
Sam – I’m not the biggest fan of mulled wine, or wine at all really but to me this smells really sweet. It has a sort of syrupy note to it, almost like Christmas berry, spiced flavoured candies. Yum!
Sarah – One of my favourites from last year. It’s a real pow of boozy fruit on the senses, it’s very strong and probably not to everyone’s liking. This is great this time of year for providing a welcoming scent into your home.
White Lilac & Rhubarb – Floral and fruity, White Lilac & Rhubarb fragrance opens with green apple and sweet rhubarb notes, followed by rose, lily, lilac and violet on a base of musk.
Sarah – Wasn’t too sure about this one, I’m still not. I think the rhubarb helped bring out the lilac which isn’t a good thing when you’re not too keen on florals. My daughter seems quite keen on it though.
Sam – When I read the scent description of this one I was like “green apple! YES! Rhubarb! YESSSS!” but then when I got to the “rose, lily, lilac and violet” part I was like “awh nooo!” 🙁 On a cold sniff you can really smell the strong tart rhubarb scent and the fresh green apple aroma which I love but when it’s melting the floral elements really come through and I’m just not a fan of those. It’s a really confusing scent for me. I love it and I hate it. If you’re a fan of fruity and floral scents then I think you’d like White Lilac & Rhubarb.
Chocolate Orange – A delicious fragrance combining milk chocolate and sweet orange notes, resting on a delicate vanilla base.
Sam – I really like chocolate orange scents but sometimes find they can be a bit too sweet and artificial smelling, I liked this one because it was more orange than chocolate and it smelled like real, juicy oranges rather than orange flavouring. The vanilla works really well at blending the two aromas.
Sarah – There is a definite likeness to the popular chocolate but this to me smells more like a syrupy chocolate orange. Almost like a Cointreau but without the boozy smell. The chocolate comes through like the Easter egg scent we had earlier this year.
Cinnamon Buns – A rich, spicy, edible smelling accord of warm cinnamon buns, supported by a hint of raisin, clove and creamy nutmeg.
Sarah – Another one of our favourite foods. This is bloody awesome though, terribly addictive and makes you want to eat everything sweet in the house. This is the one that I’ve had the most compliments on this month. I think most have been disappointed that I’ve not been making any…
Sam – This scent smells just like sticky, gooey cinnamon rolls with creamy vanilla icing on top. It’s sweeter than any other cinnamon bun type fragrances I’ve tried but I think that’s what makes it absolutely delicious! I NEED ALL the cinnamon buns now. 😛
Sam – I recently discovered the most amazing soft gingerbread cookies and I’ve been going through a bit of a gingerbread phase because of them, so I was super happy to see this one in the box. It smells exactly like the delicious treats that I’m hooked on. All those warming comforting spices, with slight hints of citrus, creamy buttery notes and rich, decadent vanilla. This is definitely my favourite scent in this box. Highly recommend it.
Sarah – One of our joint favourite scents and foods. We often discuss the varieties of gingerbread things we have bought; ice cream, donuts… This is a really lovely gingerbread scent which I’m sure will be a long-time favourite for us both.
Christmas Tree Gin – A tall, cool gin fragrance with a dash of citrus, aldehydes, pine needle and cracked juniper berries.
Sarah – I described this as fizzy trees to Sam. Ha! There’s very much a pine scent to this one and the gin really fizzes through. I’m still not sure if I like it or not, it’s quite bizarre and smells aquatic like too.
Sam – I’m not quite sure what to make of this scent, it’s really unique. I’m not a fan of pine type fragrances in general and I wouldn’t be into gin, but it is quite a refreshing fragrance. I think the citrus and juniper berry elements, take the pine and gin combination to a whole new level. I think this would be a good scent to have in a bathroom, it’s very zesty and fresh.
Sherry Trifle – A sweet, fruity, edible smelling accord of juicy fruits soaked in sherry with fruit jelly, sponge, cream and custard.
Sam – This scent is so mouth-watering! The ripe, juicy fruits and berries mixed with sweet sherry, the buttery sponge, the rich cream and the decadent vanilla custard make for such a delicious aroma. I hadn’t planned on making trifle for Christmas dinner, but I may have to now. 😛
Sarah – I’ve raved about this before, you can see my full review HERE. One of my favourite scentsf this year.
Bah! Humbug – A festive refreshing mouth-watering peppermint fragrance with soft sweet candy notes.
Sarah – I bought the candle of this last year and I do like mint scents but this one is super strong. It’s a great way to get rid of a cold or bunged up nose though!
Sam – This is a lovely blend of refreshing peppermint and rich, buttery vanilla, it’s very clean and crisp. The two very different fragrances blend perfectly together. This brings back memories for me of sneaking candy canes off the Christmas tree when I was a kid.
