The Old Stable Store is a business inspired by all things American and
mid-western Amish communities merged with the traditional British countryside and country furnishings.
Old Stable stores all began with Ben, the founder’s passion for the idyllic lifestyle – country life, American gifts and luxury homewares. He saw the need for us European folk to have easy access to all things Country & Americana.
They offer a wide range of high-end luxury goods from esteemed suppliers both in the UK and across the pond, as well as one-off and unique items that can’t be found anywhere else in the UK such as but not limited to: country furnishings, home and bath & body fragrance products, and the rich fragrances of soy-based Swan Creek Candles.
It was lovely to find a site that had heaps of candles and home fragrance products that I would never find here in Ireland or the UK and had only dreamed about owning, like Swan Creek Candles.
I was over the moon when Ben sent me two Swan Creek Candle Jars to try out. I had mentioned my love of citrus and spices so Ben sent me a Spiced Orange & Cinnamon Candle and a Gingerbread Candle too (stay tuned for that review), he really couldn’t have picked better scents!
I was sent 24oz jars which retail at £18.49, there is also 12oz jars for £13.99. The bigger ones are clearly better value, you’d be saving loads plus you really can’t say no to lots and lots of delicious scented wax.
Spiced Orange & Cinnamon is a warm and inviting fragrance combining cinnamon and the refreshing scent of orange which creates a spiced citrus scent. I’ve mentioned many times before my love of cinnamon candles and while some might say this particular candle would be a winter or Christmas type scent, I would quite happily burn it all year round. What I loved most about this scent was that at times I could smell vanilla in it, so it almost smelled like a Creamsicle but then sometimes I would get hints of what seemed like a sandalwood incense type aroma. It was really unique, like it had layers of various scents.
I wanted to get the most out of this candle and savour it has much as I could but I just loved the scent so much that I had it burning practically 24/7, it had an unreal scent throw! I did obsessively keep the wick trimmed so I could get the longest burn time possible and it definitely paid off; I think I had it burning pretty much all day for about a week and a half.
I was worried in the beginning that I’d get my hopes up and my candle wouldn’t be as great as I’d thought, but this one definitely exceeded my expectations. It burned clean and pretty flawlessly. I look forward to buying some in the future and also burning my Swan Creek Gingerbread Candle.
